The Charlotte Search Engine Marketing Association was born from a popular networking site known as Meetup.com. For those that are not familiar with Meetup.com, any individual can create an event that allows others with the same interest join. If enough people join your ‘meetup’ then chances are high you’ll be having multiple meetups throughout the year.
This was how SEMCLT.com was born. We held monthly meetings at a local healthcare facility, which happened to be one of the organizers offices. Each month we’d have a meeting and discuss the latest trends in online marketing.
Then it happened. During one of the events we looked around the room and there were 20 people standing around, listening to the meetup. At that point, we knew we had to move and grow. After all, its not fun acting like a sardine when you’re supposed to networking and learning.
SEMCLT.com is now a members only organization where we hold meetings in downtown Charlotte at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. Theres plenty of space for everyone now. We serve refreshments for everyone typically have a guest speaker each month. Theres simply a ton of talent in Charlotte and hopefully these events will provide a bit of exposure for them and a great learning experience for our members.
